Since the release of “I’m Upset”, which brought back nostalgic memories of Degrassi, fans have been eager to see what rapper Drake had up his sleeve.
June 29, Drake introduced the release of his fifth studio album, Scorpion. Prior to its release, the album was eligible to be certified platinum with back-to-back debut No. 1 singles with “God’s Plan” and “Nice For What.” This double-sided album consists of 25 tracks and follows the 2017 release of More Life. Side A is made up of a quite revealing rap narrative with actual punchlines. While Side B leans more toward the R&B side, with a few slower melodies and emotional lyrics.
The Canadian-native also addresses a few of these rumors including his reasons for not responding to G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T, when he dropped his diss track, “The Story of Adidon”. The rap feud had everyone talking about the possibility that Drake was the father of a baby boy. He wrapped up everything people have been saying about him in his Editor notes on Apple Music.
Aside from the confrontations, this album is packed with features from artists like Ty Dolla $ign, Jay Z, the iconic Michael Jackson. In addition to features, fans can also look forward to some familiar voices with samples from Mariah Carey, the late Aaliyah and Nicki Minaj, just to name a few.
Scorpion can be found on both Apple Music and Spotify.
“The Aubrey and Three Amigos tour” kicks off in July so we can expect a big second-half of the year for Drake.
