BLACKPINK’s Lisa has shared insights regarding her acting debut in the acclaimed HBO series The White Lotus Season 3. In a conversation with The Wrap on February 17th, the K-pop star expressed her excitement about joining the celebrated black comedy, which delves into human desires and conflicts set against the luxurious backdrop of high-end resorts. The third season, filmed in Thailand’s Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok, features Lisa as Mook, a health mentor at a resort, alongside seasoned actors Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, and Jason Isaacs. “I wanted to embark on a new chapter in my life,” Lisa stated. “When the opportunity with ‘The White Lotus’ presented itself, I thought, ‘Why not give it a shot?’ I’m already a huge fan of the show — I had to try, even if I didn’t succeed.” According to HBO’s production team, Lisa was recommended by their co-producer and casting director during the casting process in Thailand. However, executive producer Dave Bernad and creator Mike White were not familiar with either Lisa or BLACKPINK. The superstar went through the same rigorous audition process as all other candidates, with producers affirming that they “approached it like we did with every other casting.”
Lisa expressed her desire for a fresh start in her life. She stated, “When the opportunity for ‘The White Lotus’ presented itself, I thought, ‘Why not give it a shot?’ I’m already a huge fan of the show, so I felt compelled to try, even if I didn’t succeed.” HBO’s production team noted that although their co-producer and casting director suggested Lisa during the casting process in Thailand, executive producer Dave Bernad and creator Mike White were not familiar with her or BLACKPINK. The superstar went through the same thorough audition process as all other applicants, with producers affirming that they approached her casting just like they did with every other candidate.
