According to the official synopsis, Ava is determined to fight for her marriage, but fate steps in, revealing more about her husband’s behavior, including past wicked deeds that sabotaged Ava’s romantic connection with her soulmate in the past.
You may recognise Meagan Good and Cory Hardrict from films like Stomp the Yard (2007) and the TV series Saints and Sinners (2016-19), but in Divorce in the Black, their new Netflix/Prime Video series, they’re thrown into a drama-fuelled cycle of post-divorce chaos.
It is executive produced by Primetime Emmy-winner Tyler Perry, and the cast includes Joseph Lee Anderson, Taylor Polidore Williams, Shannon Wallace, Richard Lawson and Debbi Morgan.
What Films Will It Bring to Mind? Mostly just, ‘Oof! Wow, this is intense’; to paraphrase The Departed: ‘Not quite Marriage Story.’ Like one Tyler Perry movie title: ‘I can do bad by myself’.
