Rihanna launches Lingerie Collection Savage Fenty for all women

In the month leading up to Savage’s launch, the brand became the source of a size inclusion debate. Rihanna fans wondered if it would be as inclusive of different body types as her Fenty Beauty makeup line has been for different skin tones.

The dialogue began after Savage gave shoppers a sneak peek of sizes in the collection. Bras initially stopped at 44DD, sparking outcry from fans who said that wasn’t inclusive enough. In response, Savage added 44DDD to its size category, but when the collection finally dropped last night, that size wasn’t yet available. Bralettes on the site went up to size 3X, about a 46 or 48 bust and a DD cup.

Savage features a range of colors, most notably several shades of brown. Women of color often complain that it’s hard to find “nude” undergarments, but Savage has bras and undies in cocoa, brown sugar, and spice hues. The collection — which includes corsets, teddies, robes, and rompers too — is competitively priced; nothing costs more than $100.

The line also contains kinky accessories like handcuffs, whips, and restraints, though shoppers clamoring for the items were disappointed that they’re not yet available.

Savage’s ’60s-inspired marabou robe appears to be a particular fan favorite. A tweet about the robe, a ringer for the plush lingerie featured in the cult film The Love Witch, went viral.

But it’s only available to customers who sign up for “Xtra Savage,” a VIP program that gives members access to exclusive products for a $50 annual fee. While Rihanna stans may not balk at the cost to enroll, it’s a big commitment to ask of customers who haven’t even received their first orders.
